Responsibilities:

• Design clear and concise REST service interfaces, and create corresponding documentation.
• Build and manage reliable software in a service-oriented environment, have such software operate at high-performance, demonstrated scalability and high reliability.
• Provide technical leadership for the development team at a technical development level.

Sr. Software Engineer (Back End Java)Job Description:

Sr. Software Engineer (Back End Java) X5

Location: St. Louis, MO (consultants to work on-site 2 days per week, March/April of 2022)

Interviews:

• 1st round is a semi-technical interview screen (30-minutes) at 5:00, 5:30, 6:00, or 6:30pm EST (eastern standard time), Monday through Friday with one of MasterCard’s Technical Lead Engineers (depending on their availability).
• 2nd round: with a Principal Software Engineer (depending on their availability through the entire day (Mondays through Fridays – 10:00am through 5:00pm CST – central standard time) – Technical/Some Coding involved

Contract length: 2-years/ongoing. Extensions are expected and approved. (Would be an ongoing contract, and some have converted to full time, if requested)

Must Have Experience in:

• Advanced Java Engineer – JDK 1.8 or newer
• Core Java – Multithreading, Lambdas, Functional Interfaces, Streaming Data, JVM optimization, OAuth, etc.
• Cloud Native Engineering (e.g. 12 Factor App; Netflix OSS)
• Large, high-transaction, highly distributed systems experience
• Tokenization
• Spring Boot – Microservices & APIs
• Microservices Architecture. Must have designed, built, and launched Microservices into production. 
• “Gang of Four” Design Patterns – Factory, Singleton, Façade, etc. 
  • You MUST know what patterns to use when, where, how, and why
• Cloud/DevOps (PCF/Pivotal Cloud Foundry, AWS, GCP, Containerization)
• Experience implementing CI/CD build pipelines with tools like Git/Bitbucket, Jenkins, Maven, Artifactory, Chef, etc.

Responsibilities:

• Designs and develops applications, system-to-system interfaces, complete software solutions, and create documentation, such as user guides and software development guides.
• Advanced code development, code review, and day-to-day support duties for team members and those needing mentoring.
• Department-wide communication to convey application-level instructions/directives.
• Needing someone that knows a thing-or-two about architectures. This role needs someone that knows how to deploy architectures and look at them from multiple angles/considerations (e.g. security, performance, scale, user experience, etc.)
• As there are 4-layers of testing in their environment, Engineers must have a Quality Engineering mindset.
