Role: Software Engineer
LOCATION: Remote (CST time zone candidates preferred)
Duration: 12 months
 
Top 3 Required Technical Skills:
Confluent Kafka – Ideal candidate would have experience with designed, deployed, and setup Kafka.
JIRA, Confluence, ServiceNow
Ansible, Terraform, AWS CDK

“Nice to Have” Skills: Python, Shell scripting

Business Initiatives/Project Candidate will be working on:
Design, deploy, and maintain Confluent Kafka infrastructure, including clusters and topics. Configure and fine-tune Kafka brokers, producers, and consumers for optimal performance. Monitor and troubleshoot Kafka cluster issues, system alerts, and event-driven workflows. Collaborate with development teams to establish best practices for Kafka development and integration.

This is a new project within the last few weeks and has a target launch date of March 2024. There will be work to be done after March and there are contingency plans in place if needed to ensure flex some on the target date.

Current Methodology: Agile

Team Size/Structure: Team is remote with hiring manager on the west coast and an offshore resource in Pune India. With the time difference it is ideal to have all team members work CST time zone to provide best overlap of time zones.

Interview Process: 1 interview with hiring manager Enrique Ramirez. He is looking to move fast and get this person onboarded quick.
Responsibilities:
• Design, deploy, and maintain Confluent Kafka infrastructure, including clusters and topics.
• Configure and fine-tune Kafka brokers, producers, and consumers for optimal performance.
• Monitor and troubleshoot Kafka cluster issues, system alerts, and event-driven workflows.
• Collaborate with development teams to establish best practices for Kafka development and integration.
• Optimize Kafka cluster security, including access controls, authentication, and encryption.
• Install and configure Kafka connectors and other ecosystem tools.
• Automate routine administration tasks using scripting and automation tools.
• Develop self-serve solution for developers using Terraform and AWS CDK.
• Stay up to date with the latest Kafka releases, patches, and security vulnerabilities.
• Develop and maintain documentation related to Kafka infrastructure, configurations, and processes.
• Conduct performance analysis and optimization of Kafka workloads and data pipelines.
• Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams for Kafka-related projects.
• Collaborate with vendor support teams to resolve complex Kafka-related issues.
• Ensure compliance with security and data governance policies for Kafka deployments
