Title: Senior Network Engineer

Location: Dallas, TX (Onsite)

Duration: 6 to 12 month CTH (possible conversion, likely after 12 months)

Client: Dallas County 

As a Senior Network Engineer specializing in Routing and Switching, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining an organization’s network infrastructure. Your expertise will be focused on optimizing network performance, ensuring high availability, and addressing complex routing and switching challenges. The role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, troubleshooting network issues, and providing strategic input for network enhancements.


Roles and Responsibilities

Perform installation of network cabling infrastructure.
Ability to communicate with coworkers and customers in an effective and respectful manner.
Operate cable testing equipment, such as Fluke tester and basic cable esters.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to troubleshoot basic Layer 1 network switching connectivity problems.
Ability to install network switches, UPS(s), Access Points, and other customer owed equipment
Must have reliable transportation.
Willingness to travel and work on company projects in various cities county wide, up to 25% travel is required at times.
Open to learning, direction from Supervisor, and working as a team member and self-sufficient.
Must pass a drug and background screening (clean record, no criminal arrests/convictions).
Racking, stacking, and transferring network equipment between county buildings.
Work on resolving users’ tickets.
Possible other job duties include setting up PC and printers.
Set up voice over IP (VoIP) phones; connect to network, and test functions.
Ability to receive instruction and perform tasks in a timely manner.
Basic knowledge of hand tools and how to safely use them.
Ability to complete task with minimal supervision.
Run Ethernet and Fiber cabling
Skills and Experience

· Network or Desktop support experience is preferred

Minimum Qualifications/Technical and Educational Requirements

· High school diploma, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree

· CompTIA A+ , CompTIA Network+, CCNA certification or any other Cisco certification a plus.

Top 3 Technical Skills 

Extensive Experience w/ Route Switch Protocol
Experience with cable patching
Experience working with fiber Optic Cable

Ability to cable patch
Understand fiber optic code
Looking for a minimum of 6 years experience (preferably with lead or senior experience) 
Adding additional headcount due to running a very lean team. Current team includes 1 Lead Network personnel and 3 Sr. level. 
Manager is still very hands on!
People on the team are tech savvy…good problem solving.
Previous Government sector experience HIGHLY PREFERRED
46 different sites across the county
12 month contract to hire
On Site 5 days per week

Primarily a Cisco Shop
Utilizes Palo Alto Firewalls
F5 Load Balancing 
Cisco 9800
Moving towards a Cisco ACI (about 75% there already)
