Job Title: Network Administrator

Rate- $45/hr on C2C

Scope of Work:

The Florida Department of Transportation maintains a complex network comprising:

• 2,296 network devices, including:
  • 434 CCTV cameras
  • 422 Detectors
  • 133 Dynamic Message Signs (DMS)
  • 380 Switches
• Coverage spans 350 miles of roadways.

The Network Administrator will be responsible for ensuring the continuous operation of the Department’s field device network.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Network Monitoring & Management
   • Configure and operate LibreNMS and Brocade Network Performance Monitor.
   • Monitor network health and performance to ensure operational continuity.
2. Field Support & Travel
   • Travel to field locations and maintenance warehouses as needed.
   • Use of personal laptop, cellphone, and transportation is required.
3. Infrastructure Leadership
   • Lead Layer 2 and Layer 3 network protocol implementation.
   • Coordinate physical network layer changes in collaboration with FDOT’s contract manager.
4. Firewall Administration
   • Manage Fortinet Firewalls including:
     • Roles and policy updates
     • Security configurations and rule sets
5. Web Filtering Administration
   • Handle weekly audits and permission updates on FortiGate systems.
   • Manage software updates and monitor system status.
6. Compliance & Security
   • Complete mandatory certifications/modules before the start of work:
     • SLERS background check
     • CJIS certification
     • FDOT security and policy training

Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in a similar network administration role.
• Ability to work full-time onsite at Sanford TMC.
• Strong understanding of network protocols and security tools.
• Reliable personal transport for on-demand travel to remote sites.
• Prior experience with FDOT systems or public sector network infrastructure is a plus.
