Responsibilities:
· Cloud Infrastructure Management: Design, create, and manage AWS cloud resources using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as AWS CloudFormation and the AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK).
· Containerization and Orchestration: Implement and manage containerized workloads in Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) utilizing GitOps principles and the Flux CD tool.
· Observability and Monitoring: Implement and manage comprehensive observability solutions using Splunk Observability Cloud, including metrics, logging, and tracing.
· Troubleshooting and Support: Proactively troubleshoot and resolve issues related to applications running across our AWS environment, including EKS, Elastic Beanstalk, and Lambda.
· CDN and WAF Management: Understand and work with Akamai as our Content Delivery Network (CDN) and Web Application Firewall (WAF) solution.
· Documentation and Standards: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for infrastructure, configurations, and operational procedures.
· Collaboration and Communication: Effectively communicate and collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams (software engineers, security engineers, etc.) to deliver and maintain platform services.
· Stakeholder Communication: Clearly and concisely communicate technical concepts and issues to non-technical stakeholders.
· Diagramming and Visualization: Create and maintain clear and accurate diagrams illustrating infrastructure and architectural designs.
· Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest cloud technologies and best practices, and proactively identify opportunities for improvement within our platform.
· Security and Compliance: Implement and adhere to security best practices and compliance requirements within the cloud environment.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
· 5+ years of experience in a Cloud Engineering or DevOps role.
· Significant experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
· Proven experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools, preferably AWS CloudFormation and CDK.
· Hands-on experience deploying and managing applications in Kubernetes, ideally with Amazon EKS.
· Strong understanding and practical experience with GitOps methodologies and tools, particularly Flux CD.
· Experience implementing and utilizing observability platforms, with preference for Splunk Observability Cloud (or similar tools like Datadog, New Relic).
· Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and experience with tools like GitHub Actions.
· Experience troubleshooting applications running in various AWS services (EKS, Elastic Beanstalk, Lambda).
· Familiarity with CDN and WAF solutions, with knowledge of Akamai being a significant advantage.
· Strong understanding of networking principles and security best practices in a cloud environment.
· Experience with scalable architectures, cloud platforms, and transactional applications.
· Strong problem-solving mindset with a focus on impact-driven decision-making.
Soft Skills:
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences.
· Proven ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
· Ability to create and maintain clear and concise infrastructure and architecture diagrams (e.g., using tools like Lucidchart, draw.io).
· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
· Self-motivated and able to work independently.
· A proactive and continuous learning mindset.
Huge Plus:
· AWS Certifications (e.g., Certified Developer – Associate, Certified SysOps
· Administrator – Associate, Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional).
· Experience with other containerization technologies (e.g., Docker).
· Experience with other GitOps tools.
· Contributions to open-source projects.
· Experience with security scanning and vulnerability management tools.
