Will be a team of 3 Data Scientists – 1 onboard now is a Geospatial expert

1 needs to be good with orchestration
Brining models together
Will work with other DS’s and contributors
1 needs to be focused on use cases
Develop understanding of all models (fire, flood, earthquake)
 

NEEDS:

Databricks — this is being implemented now
Overview:

Needs someone to come in to perform true Data Science – not  just machine learning
PhD or Masters degree in Data Science (could also be Engineering, Physics – any STEM related field)
Has worked in Azure and Data Bricks
Needs professional experience – not working in their own world/certifications/etc
Understands Python scripting, how to create a model based on first principles (not AI model)
What is the problem they are trying to solve? Code that up and get it working
Some dev skills/understanding
Proactive – doesn’t need budging or pushing from managers. Doesn’t need manager oversight
They use GeoPandas, Maplotlib, SyPi, KnownPi
Geospactial, data mapping
SQL – good to be fluent in it but doesn’t need to be a database expert
Share ERD to shore relationships between tables, windows functions and how they’ve been used
One pain point – verification and validation in what they are doing
Understand these differences
Show they can perform verification as they build out and then validate it
Needs someone who can think beyond the world of machine learning
 

What is always required on this team:

People who can think smartly about a problem

Use data to solve a problem and drive insight and business value

Goes beyond just a business or data analyst — can use whatever tools are available to slice and dice data based on the data models.

Can be physics based model or non-physics based/ML Models. It can also be some ML…they do some visualization and genAI

Does not want someone exclusively focused in ML and GenAI

How to verify data integrity and model integrity

Going forward how to build out further without compromising integrity of the model

They do a lot to make sure everything can be verified and validated so it can be relied on in business decisions

Currently sometimes they cant bank on a result being vetted fully and accurate

A True data scientists will be able to back up their conclusion with hard data
