supporting a project for one of our recent acquisitions, who is going to market for a SaaS solution with which to file Export Customs declarations (and later implementing that tool).

Additional support for me and other workstreams we already have in flight within the Product.

As usual, we’re looking for someone who has some global trade experience, but what we found in the last few attempts at this was that we were more successful with candidates that had less of the trade and more of the product management/product owner background. I’m attaching the generic JD you can use. 

As a Technical Product Owner (TPO) you will drive forward technology product ownership and capability pull-through for our Global Trade products aligned with the business objectives. You will advance product & capability roadmap development of multiple new technologies. Additionally, you will partner with Domain Leads, Solution Leads, and Architects as well as domain professionals across departments and Data Architecture on data capabilities to enable their design, build, and ongoing sustainment. We are a customer and product-centric team, where everything we do starts and ends with the customer.

 

Strategy

• Define the market and business product-driven strategy

• Maximize return on investment (ROI) by identifying and prioritizing the product features by business value (building the right thing)

• Define the product vision and roadmap including new features and enhancements

• In the absence of a Product Analyst, the TPO may also be responsible for developing and managing business requirements, writing user stories, and communicating the vision to developers and testers Product development oversight

• Communicate the vision of the product to developers and testers

• Negotiate with the business to see what features are built and which are backlogged based on capacity

• Accountable for the development work getting done correctly

• Supervise the progress of product development in the context of the larger program

• Incorporate user feedback and insights into the next build iteration

• Partner with business owners to ensure the Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met

• Report back to the business on the delivery status of features, functionality, and applications

• Review and approve changes to applications

• Has a combination of global and regional accountability depending on product line scope

 

Product Ownership Oversight

• Drive adoption of the product and use thereof across sectors with BPO, PA, and Platform Tech Lead

• Own the total cost of product development, ownership, and user-unit cost

• Own the spend on vendors and services provided by other groups within J&J

• Closely works with Product Line leads to report the performance of applications

• Own the product use throughout all the stages of the product lifecycle

• Define product catalog linked to user needs and business value

Job Qualifications:

• Validated analytical and problem-solving abilities, comfortable managing large, sophisticated data sets and ability to perform analysis, translating insights into impactful recommendations

• Strong IT background with a consistent record of delivering results, validated leadership, influencing skills, interdependent partnering skills, communication as well as critical thinking skills, creative and flexible problem solver, and process focus

• Agile development experience, SDLC methodology, risk management including information security

• Ability to assist with estimating effort for project objectives and prioritize work items appropriately

• 3-5 years’ experience in Global Trade Compliance and/or Transportation preferred

• Ability to succeed in a global environment and influence adoption of new thinking

• Experience in effectively collaborating multi-functionally while handling partner expectations without formal authority

• Knowledge of JIRA preferred

• Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment in high pressure, critical situations and attention to detail required

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact skillfully and confidently with internal partners to develop ideas, find opportunities, and influence outcomes

• Ability to align complex architecture to business strategies and initiatives

• Consistent track record of delivering projects with bold timelines and sprints; can drive solutions quickly and efficiently with high value

• Solid experience crafting technical solutions for business problems; understands both business processes and technical solutions
