Cassandra Database Administrator

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Cassandra Database Administrator to join our team in Seattle, WA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, optimizing, and ensuring the availability of Cassandra database clusters to support our critical applications. This role requires strong expertise in database administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting in a high-availability environment.

Key Responsibilities:
-Deploy, configure, and manage Cassandra database clusters.
-Monitor and optimize database performance, replication, and consistency.
-Develop and implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
-Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner.
-Automate database operations, monitoring, and maintenance tasks.
-Ensure security, access control, and compliance with industry best practices.
-Collaborate with developers and system administrators to optimize database usage.
-Stay updated with emerging trends and best practices in Cassandra database management.

Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
-5+ years of experience in database administration with at least 3 years focused on Apache Cassandra.
-Strong understanding of Cassandra data modeling, architecture, and replication strategies.
-Experience with CQL (Cassandra Query Language), performance tuning, and cluster scaling.
-Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Data Stax Ops Center.
-Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Shell, or Ansible) for automation.
-Experience working with cloud-based Cassandra solutions (AWS Key spaces, -Azure Cosmos DB, or Google Cloud Spanner) is a plus.
-Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Skills:
-Experience with NoSQL database technologies such as MongoDB, Couchbase, or DynamoDB.
-Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
-Familiarity with Kafka, Spark, or other big data technologies.
