Summary
Northern Trust is seeking a dynamic Cloud DevOps Engineer with a strong emphasis on Automation and Security Operations. This exciting opportunity allows you to be part of a major transformation to the cloud, building, automating, and securing a highly available Azure cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in cloud automation engineering, application integration, and APIs, and will play a key role in protecting Northern Trust’s cloud-hosted assets and applications.

Responsibilities
Cloud DevOps Engineering & Automation:
Build Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) automation using tools like Terraform to enhance cloud infrastructure.
Use IaC to accelerate development by programmatically providing resources to development teams.
Maintain proficiency in modern DevOps and CI/CD tools (GitHub, GitHub Actions, ADO) to provision resources and prevent configuration drift.
Evaluate new cloud automation technologies and vendor products, recommending integration into DevOps frameworks with tools like Terraform Cloud.
Collaborate with product, architecture, and other stakeholders to design cloud technologies that align with product roadmaps and well-architected frameworks.
Investigate and resolve complex cloud infrastructure issues, developing solutions and documenting reengineering processes.
Participate in IT Service Management (ITSM) processes, including change, incident, and general requests for Azure cloud platform support for Business-As-Usual (BAU) operations.
Security Engineering:
Develop and enforce Policy-as-Code (PaC) for Azure cloud environments, configuring, detecting, and remediating security issues.
Collaborate with teams to define and implement security policies based on CIS and NIST benchmarks.
Support the remediation of security vulnerabilities using cloud posture management tools and ITSM processes, ensuring SLAs are met.
Manage, configure, enhance, and operate cloud security posture management platforms (e.g., Wiz, Prisma Cloud) for pre-deployment scanning of IaC code to protect infrastructure.

Required Skills & Experience:
13+ years of experience in Cloud DevOps Engineering with a focus on Azure cloud environments.
Extensive experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), particularly with Terraform.
Deep knowledge of CI/CD tooling (GitHub, GitHub Actions, ADO).
Expertise in cloud automation, application integration, and API management.
Strong experience with cloud security practices and policy enforcement (Policy-as-Code, CIS, NIST benchmarks).
Hands-on experience with cloud posture management platforms such as Wiz, Prisma Cloud.
Ability to resolve complex cloud infrastructure issues and document solutions for future improvements.
Proven experience working in a collaborative environment with stakeholders to align with product goals and security standards.

Preferred Skills:
Cloud certification (e.g., Azure Certified DevOps Engineer).
Experience with additional cloud security tools and technologies.
Familiarity with cloud-native application design and deployment.
