Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced AS400 Developer with strong expertise in RPGLE, COBOL/400, CL programming, and DB2/400. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing applications on the IBM iSeries platform. This role involves working on both legacy systems and modern RPG applications, ensuring smooth business operations and supporting enterprise-level processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, test, and maintain programs using RPGLE (Free & Fixed Format) and ILE COBOL.
Develop control language (CL) programs to automate tasks and manage job flows effectively.
Maintain and enhance legacy applications including batch processes and file handling in COBOL/400.
Design and update physical/logical files using DDS and perform complex file operations (read, write, update, chain).
Write efficient embedded SQL in RPGLE and COBOL for CRUD operations on DB2/400.
Create and maintain subfiles and report programs using O-specs, managing headers, details, and page control.
Work with DB2 for i, including physical and logical file definitions, and utilize IFS for file viewing/manipulation.
Integrate and call programs across RPG ⇆ COBOL ⇆ CL modules.
Use TurnOver or similar change management tools for version control and deployment.
Troubleshoot and debug programs, ensuring performance optimization and data integrity.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Solid understanding of AS400 fundamentals: libraries, objects, commands.
Strong knowledge in CL programming and its integration with RPG/COBOL.
Proficiency in RPGLE (free and fixed format), procedures, modules, and service programs.
Experience with ILE COBOL, report formatting, and file handling logic.
Hands-on experience with embedded SQL, DB2/400, and SQLRPGLE.
Proficient in using DDS for database and display file definitions.
Experience in report writing and handling subfiles.
Familiarity with TurnOver or other IBM i change management tools.
Strong analytical and debugging skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Exposure to modernization projects involving RPGLE.
Basic understanding of IFS scripting or external integrations.
Experience working in Agile or hybrid environments.
