The circuits are data circuits, so think MPLS, DIA… it’s a PM that knows how to install them. Need to see this on the resume: MPLS, DIA, etc.
They are switching out their circuit providers across all 91 locations
Think of how your internet comes into your house.
So, it’s more physical connections from the street to the building and the software/hardware needed for installation(s).
But they need to know all there is to know about how they need to be installed, cutover, options, etc…
He’s looking for a PM that has done this before
So… the places you’ll look maybe places that install internet – Business internet like Verizon, ATT, Comcast, etc..
Project Planning:
1. Conduct detailed needs analysis to identify circuit replacement requirements.
2. Develop comprehensive project plans including scope, timeline, budget, resource allocation, and deliverables.
3. Create detailed project schedules and milestones, coordinating with internal and external teams.
4. Assess potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Stakeholder Management:
1. Collaborate with key stakeholders including network engineers, operations teams, customer service, and client representatives to gather requirements and manage expectations.
2. Communicate project progress, updates, and potential issues to stakeholders regularly.
3. Address concerns and resolve conflicts promptly.
Circuit Replacement Execution:
4. Coordinate with vendors and service providers for circuit decommissioning and installation.
5. Manage the transition process, minimizing downtime and service disruptions during circuit switchover.
6. Oversee quality checks and testing to ensure new circuits are functioning properly.
Budget and Cost Control:
1. Monitor project expenditures against the approved budget.
2. Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement necessary adjustments.
3. Track and report variances to stakeholders.
Technical Expertise:
4. Possess a strong understanding of telecommunications network architecture, circuit types, and protocols.
5. Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies related to circuit replacement.
Reporting and Documentation:
6. Prepare regular project status reports highlighting key metrics and milestones.
7. Maintain comprehensive project documentation including technical specifications, change orders, and post-implementation reports.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Proven experience as a project manager in the telecommunications industry
2. Strong understanding of telecommunications network infrastructure and circuit management
3. Expertise in project management methodologies and tools
4. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
5. Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
7. Proficiency in project management software (MS Project)
