Role: BI Developer
Summary:
ORCAA is seeking an experienced Business Intelligence (BI) Developer to design and implement business intelligence solutions that support a new cloud-based regulatory database. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building real-time dashboards and reporting features using Amazon QuickSight, with strong expertise in data modeling, ETL processes, and business analytics. The role includes data visualization, dashboard development, and collaboration with agency staff to translate requirements into actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and develop real-time dashboards and reporting tools using Amazon QuickSight.
• Work with stakeholders to define data visualization requirements, key performance indicators (KPIs), and report outputs.
• Build and optimize ETL pipelines to support reporting needs using structured and unstructured data sources.
• Create and manage data models and schema designs to support business intelligence activities.
• Integrate BI tools into the broader system architecture and ensure scalability and performance.
• Transform raw data into meaningful insights to support environmental compliance, operational efficiency, and public transparency.
• Support data migration efforts, ensuring accuracy and consistency of data during import processes.
• Conduct unit testing and validation of reports and dashboards.
• Collaborate with the development and QA teams to ensure BI functionality aligns with the overall database system.
• Provide documentation and training to end users on report creation and dashboard interaction.
Required Qualifications:
• 8+ years of experience in BI development, analytics, or related data roles.
• Proven experience with Amazon QuickSight for report and dashboard creation.
• Strong skills in data modeling, SQL, and ETL design.
• Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Familiarity with integrating BI solutions into cloud-based and hybrid systems.
• Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Experience working with government or regulatory agencies is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
• Knowledge of environmental compliance or regulatory systems.
• Understanding of PostgreSQL or other modern cloud-based databases.
• Experience with data security, user roles, and permission settings in public-facing dashboards.
• Ability to create training materials and deliver training sessions for different user roles.

This role is part of a broader project to build a secure, modern, and publicly accessible regulatory database system. The BI Developer will contribute primarily to:
