Job Title: Senior Data Modeler – GCP & Retail Domain (BigQuery Focus)

Position Overview:
We are looking for a Senior Data Modeler with proven expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Retail data architecture to join our Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) team. This is a critical role focused on designing scalable, high-performance data models on BigQuery, enabling enterprise-grade analytics across our retail ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Modeling & Architecture
- Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models using BigQuery as the core platform.
- Build robust dimensional models (fact/dimension tables) aligned with Kimball methodology to support analytics, reporting, and AI/ML use cases.
- Optimize data structures for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency using partitioning, clustering, and materialized views.
- Collaborate with data engineers to operationalize models in ETL/ELT pipelines on GCP.
Retail Data Expertise
- Model and manage data across key retail domains such as sales, pricing, promotions, inventory, supply chain, and customer behavior.
- Ensure data reflects real-world retail processes and supports timely and actionable insights.
- Partner with business teams to align models with merchandising, e-commerce, store operations, and loyalty program needs.
Governance & Collaboration
- Define and document metadata, business rules, and data definitions for curated datasets.
- Work with Data Governance to maintain data quality, compliance, and cataloging standards.
- Act as a bridge between business users, data engineers, and analytics teams, ensuring curated models meet cross-functional requirements.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in enterprise data modeling with a focus on cloud data platforms.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Google BigQuery and GCP tools.
- Strong knowledge of retail data models and business processes (POS, pricing, SKU management, inventory flow, etc.).
- Expert-level skills in SQL and performance tuning on BigQuery.
- Demonstrated experience applying Kimball or data vault methodologies.
- Proven track record collaborating with data engineers, analysts, and governance teams to deliver production-grade data assets.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with modern data architectures (data lakehouse, real-time/event-driven pipelines).
- Familiarity with GCP ecosystem tools such as Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Dataproc.
- Exposure to BI and analytics tools like Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or integrating with ML platforms.
- Background in e-commerce, omnichannel retail, or large-scale consumer data platforms.
