Senior Data Engineer with JAVA

Key Responsibilities
* Design, build, and maintain Java-based data pipelines supporting M&A integration efforts

* Ingest, transform, and integrate large, complex datasets into enterprise data platforms

* Develop scalable data processing workflows using Databricks / Apache Spark (Java preferred)

* Utilize SQL extensively for data validation, transformation, and analytical support

* Partner closely with data, analytics, product, and merger‑integration teams

* Advocate for sound data architecture and engineering decisions, clearly articulating trade-offs and risks

* Collaborate and problem-solve directly with directors and senior leaders, helping shape data strategy and execution

* Ensure data quality, security, lineage, and compliance with enterprise and regulatory standards

* Troubleshoot complex data issues and clearly communicate root causes and resolutions

Required Technical Skills
* Strong hands-on experience with Java

* Proven experience in data engineering and enterprise-scale data integration

* Strong SQL skills and experience working with high-volume datasets

* Experience with Databricks and Apache Spark (Java or Scala)

* Experience working in AWS, including S3 and other data services

* Familiarity with modern data lake and warehouse platforms (e.g., Snowflake)

* Experience using Git/GitHub and delivering production-grade data solutions

Required Qualifications
* Demonstrated experience working in regulated environments (e.g., financial services, banking, healthcare, insurance, or similar)

* Strong understanding of data governance, security controls, and compliance requirements

* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in clear, practical terms

* Proven ability to advocate for solutions, influence decisions, and collaborate effectively with director-level stakeholders

* Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, with the ability to work independently in ambiguous situations

Preferred Qualifications
* Prior Capital One experience

* Familiarity with Capital One data platforms, engineering standards, or SDLC processes

* Experience supporting M&A or large enterprise data integration initiatives

* CI/CD experience for data pipelines
