Role: A SQL Server Architect responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance, scalable, and reliable database solutions using Microsoft SQL Server technology, ensuring optimal data integrity, accessibility, and performance by creating robust database architectures aligned with business needs and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Database Design and Architecture:
- Analyse business requirements to design efficient and scalable database models on SQL Server platform.
- Implement database normalization and data partitioning strategies.
- Design High Availability Solutions by configuring Always On Availability using Windows Failover clustering
- Design Disaster Recovery solutions by configuring Clustering, Replication, Log-shipping and Mirroring
Performance Optimization:
- Monitor database performance metrics and identify bottlenecks
- Analyse and optimize SQL queries to improve execution speed
- Implement indexing strategies to enhance query performance
- Conduct database tuning and capacity planning
Collaboration and Leadership:
- Work closely with application developers to understand data requirements and integrate database solutions
- Provide technical guidance and support to database administrators and other stakeholders
- Lead database migration projects to new platforms or cloud environments
Required Skills:
- Expert knowledge of SQL Server database management system (DBMS) including T-SQL, stored procedures, functions, and triggers
- Strong understanding of database design principles, normalization, and data modeling
- Experience with database performance tuning and optimization techniques
- Proficient in Clustering, Replication, Log-shipping, Mirroring and Always On Availability groups
- Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions like Azure SQL Database
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
