Position: Cognos Admin

Location: Pittsburgh PA (Hybrid)

Job description:

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and upgrade IBM Cognos Analytics (BI) software.
• Administer and support the Cognos environment including security, patching, and performance tuning.
• Manage and monitor Cognos services and components (Dispatcher, Content Manager, Gateway).
• Work with IT and business users to schedule and troubleshoot reports and dashboards.
• Manage access control and security via Cognos roles, groups, and policies.
• Maintain and migrate Cognos content and configuration between environments (Dev, QA, Prod).
• Perform root cause analysis of BI environment issues and provide timely resolutions.
• Collaborate with developers, DBAs, and business analysts for integration and optimization.
• Document procedures, configurations, and support activities.
• Ensure high availability and reliability of the Cognos platform through proactive monitoring.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience in Cognos Administration.
• Strong knowledge of Cognos components including Framework Manager, Report Studio, Dashboarding, and Transformer.
• Hands-on experience with Cognos Analytics (11.x) and previous versions.
• Proficiency in administering multi-server, clustered Cognos environments.
• Strong understanding of LDAP, Active Directory integration for authentication.
• Solid grasp of performance tuning techniques and troubleshooting strategies.
• Familiarity with scripting languages (Shell, Python, etc.) for automation.
• Knowledge of databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, or others.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
