Position :: Lead Network Firewall Engineer

Lead Network Firewall Engineer to join their Firewall Management and Network Security Team in Washington, DC. This role, located within a day shift schedule, demands a seasoned professional with 9+ years of firewall and network administration experience, emphasizing Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, and Check Point firewalls.

The successful candidate will manage firewall administration tasks, oversee network performance, and ensure security operations in AWS and Azure environments. Certification in Palo Alto professional security or equivalent is required.

 

Responsibilities:

• Manage all aspects of firewall administration, including maintenance, upgrades, and configuration changes, ensuring optimal performance and security.

• Conduct hands-on administration of routers and switches, implementing best practices to maintain network integrity and efficiency.

• Utilize expertise in Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, and Check Point firewalls to design, implement, and troubleshoot complex firewall configurations and policies.

• Implement and maintain security operations in AWS and Azure environments, leveraging Palo Alto Prisma for comprehensive security management.

• Contribute to the design and implementation of firewall and security architecture, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry best practices.

• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including network architecture diagrams, security plan controls, and risk assessments, using tools such as Visio.

• Utilize ServiceNow (SNOW) for incident and change ticket management, ensuring timely resolution and adherence to established processes.

• Investigate and respond to IDS/IPS alerts, leveraging in-depth knowledge of network security principles and techniques.

• Ensure compliance with Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards and best practices, implementing necessary controls and measures to protect sensitive data.

• Apply ITIL principles to problem and change management processes, tracking trends and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

• Communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and external partners, providing updates on project status, issues, and resolutions
