PowerBuilder Developer – Legacy Applications Re-build and Migration

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced PowerBuilder Developer to join our team for the re-build and migration of legacy PowerBuilder applications. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in PowerBuilder development, application modernization, and database integration. This role requires a proactive individual who can analyze existing systems, propose innovative solutions, and ensure seamless migration to modern platforms.

Key Responsibilities

·        Analyze, design, and develop solutions for legacy PowerBuilder applications, ensuring functionality and performance are maintained during migration.

·        Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and understand business processes.

·        Modernize and re-build legacy applications using PowerBuilder, integrating them with updated technologies and frameworks.

·        Perform migration of legacy systems to contemporary platforms, ensuring data integrity and minimal disruption to business operations.

·        Optimize application performance and troubleshoot issues during development and migration phases.

·        Ensure compliance with coding standards, security protocols, and best practices.

·        Conduct system testing, debugging, and provide technical documentation for all development and migration activities.

·        Work closely with database administrators to ensure seamless integration with SQL databases and other data sources.

·        Provide post-migration support and maintenance for applications to ensure stability and functionality.

Required Skills and Qualifications

·        Proven experience in PowerBuilder development, including versions such as PowerBuilder 10.x, 12.x, or higher.

·        Strong understanding of legacy application architecture and modernization techniques.

·        Proficiency in SQL and database design, with experience in databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, or Sybase.

·        Knowledge of application migration strategies, including cloud-based solutions.

·        Familiarity with APIs, web services, and integration with other technologies.

·        Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team environment.

·        Strong communication skills to interact with business users, technical teams, and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

·        Experience with modern development frameworks and tools, such as .NET or Java, for migration purposes.

·        Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

·        Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies.

·        Certification in PowerBuilder or related technologies is a plus.
