Job Title: Principal Enterprise Architect
Location: Remote (United States)
Job Overview:The Principal Enterprise Architect will be responsible for architecting, designing, solutioning and implementing the enterprise architecture of various systems, tools, applications, and data sources within a multi-tenant environment. This role is crucial in ensuring seamless communication and functionality across an expanding suite of enterprise technologies located in multiple geographies across an organization growing rapidly through acquisitions. This role will report directly to the CTO and collaborate closely with other departments to support the setting up and execution of a scalable technology platform.
Key Responsibilities:
- Post-Merger Integration: Lead efforts to integrate systems and processes following acquisitions, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption.
- Enterprise Architecture: Envision, communicate, and evolve the organization’s enterprise architecture, addressing key aspects such as organizational structure, business processes, value streams, data, and supporting technologies.
- Data Architecture: Assess current-state data architectures, integration points, and dependencies across the parent enterprise and acquired companies. Design and lead the implementation of a target-state enterprise data architecture that supports analytics, reporting, governance, and future scalability.
- Data Governance: Define and implement data governance frameworks, stewardship models, and ownership accountability across data domains. Guide Master Data Management (MDM), metadata management, data cataloging, and lineage tracking efforts.
- Strategic Collaboration: Serve as a strategic partner during ongoing post-merger data integration and system consolidation efforts. Collaborate with internal teams, business users, MSPs and external vendors to align IT initiatives with business capability models and overall transformation roadmaps.
- Design and Implement Integration Solutions: Develop comprehensive blueprints for connecting disparate systems and applications and implement the solutions.
- Select Integration Tools: Identify and implement the best technologies and tools for integration, including middleware, APIs, and data integration platforms.
- Ensure Data Consistency: Maintain accurate and consistent data sharing across systems.
- Manage Integration Projects: Oversee the execution of integration projects, including planning, resource allocation, and budget management.
- Azure Implementation: Utilize Azure services for integration, including Azure Logic Apps, Azure API Management, and other Azure tools to orchestrate calls to enterprise backend systems.
- Data Integration and Migration: Lead data integration and migration efforts, including mapping, transformation, validation, and reconciliation of data from legacy systems. Develop strategies for merging structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data from various platforms and tools.
- Technology Evaluation: Evaluate, select, and implement data technologies including Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Purview, and others per the long-term technology roadmap created by the CTO and the team.
- Travel: Occasional travel may be required to support integration efforts and collaborate with teams.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: Proven experience as an Enterprise Architect, preferably in a multi-tenant environment.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of integration tools and technologies, excellent problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in integration and enterprise architecture technologies are a plus.
- Azure Expertise: Hands-on experience with Azure data stack, including Synapse, ADF, Data Lake, and Purview. Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, and modern cloud-native data ecosystems.
- Data Architecture: Strong expertise in data modeling, normalization, and design across OLTP and OLAP systems. Familiarity with NoSQL systems and designing for hybrid architectures (structured/unstructured).
- Governance and Integration: Working knowledge of data governance, lineage tools, and MDM frameworks. Strong understanding of data integration patterns, data quality, and metadata.
- Collaboration: Comfortable working with business and technical stakeholders to align data with strategy. Experience collaborating with Enterprise Architecture or familiarity with capability-based planning is a plus.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- M&A Experience: Experience in M&A environments, especially post-acquisition integration.
- Advanced Architectures: Knowledge of data mesh, lakehouse architectures, and semantic layers. Familiarity with business capability mapping and aligning architecture to business outcomes.
Certifications: Certifications in Azure, Snowflake, or enterprise architecture tools are a plus. Exposure to EA frameworks (e.g., TOGAF) or working in EA-led environments.
