Job Description:
We are seeking a seasoned Technical Specialist (analyst/designer/developer) with over 10 years of experience to support the enhancement and maintenance of a mission-critical application known as HiCAMS for the Engineering Application Services Department. HiCAMS is a custom PowerBuilder client-server application used for tracking work, materials, and payments on transportation infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate will address a Java compatibility issue in a Red Hat Linux environment as the initial assignment, followed by enhancements and support of the HiCAMS system and its interfaces. Future responsibilities include converting spreadsheet-based test result formats into PowerBuilder data windows and delivering various functional upgrades across integrated systems.

Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and resolve Java upgrade-related issues on Red Hat Linux servers.
• Develop and enhance interfaces using Java, C+, C#, and .NET technologies.
• Convert legacy spreadsheets into PowerBuilder data windows.
• Perform bug fixes, enhancements, and system support.
• Engage in full software development lifecycle activities: requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Interface with internal and external systems using various technologies.
• Collaborate with business and IT teams to understand needs and deliver scalable solutions.

Required Skills:

• 10+ years as a PowerBuilder developer (PB10 or newer)
• 10+ years Java development with experience in version/library compatibility resolution
• Strong SQL proficiency (experience with Sybase or any major database)
• 10+ years experience with Microsoft Excel and broader MS Suite
• 5+ years experience working in a remote development environment
• Strong analytical, technical, and conceptual skills
• Ability to work with custom base classes
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills

Highly Desired Skills:

• 5+ years C# development experience
• 5+ years C++ development experience
• 5+ years experience with stored procedures and triggers (any database)
• 5+ years .NET application and API development in Visual Studio
• 3+ years experience in data conversion
