Position: Database Developer (MySQL)
Location: Plano, TX
Duration: 12+Month
Need a Developer Not an Admin
Need min 12+Years
Experience Required:
- Minimum of 12+ years in database/application development preferred, with direct experience in developing, maintaining, and optimizing databases.
- Recent, hands-on experience as a Database Developer specializing in MySQL or Oracle (recent MySQL DB development experience is highly valued).
Key Responsibilities:
Database Development & Management
- Design, develop, test, and maintain complex stored procedures, triggers, and SQL scripts (primarily in MySQL; Oracle PL/SQL experience is also an option).
- Build and optimize high-performing MySQL databases to ensure stability, scalability, and reliability for critical business applications.
- Develop queries, procedures, and functions; optimize for performance and cost-effective scaling (especially in MySQL/Azure MySQL; Oracle PL/SQL considered).
- Participate in data modeling, schema design, and database refactoring to support new and existing business requirements.
Performance Tuning & Optimization
- Analyze and optimize queries, indexing strategies, and execution plans to maximize database performance.
- Monitor database performance and proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve bottlenecks and slow-running queries.
- Recommend and implement improvements for database speed, reliability, and maintainability.
Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with application developers to ensure database structures support application performance and scalability.
- Collaborate with DevOps, infrastructure, and analytics teams to support database-driven workflows and processes.
- Provide day-to-day database support, including issue diagnosis and resolution, and operational troubleshooting.
Security & Best Practices
- Enforce robust database security protocols, including user access management, data encryption, and audit logging.
- Maintain database documentation and ensure adherence to data governance and compliance standards.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated hands-on experience as a Database Developer with a strong focus on MySQL or Oracle database development.
- Expertise in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries for MySQL (PL/SQL for Oracle developers also considered).
- Familiarity with Azure cloud database services, especially Azure MySQL and Cosmos DB using the MongoDB API.
- Solid understanding of database design, data modeling, normalization/denormalization, performance tuning, and indexing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in MySQL, MongoDB.
- Experience with Azure Cosmos DB using the MongoDB API is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, especially database CI/CD pipeline integration.
- Experience working in hybrid or cloud-first environments.
