Position 2: Sr Controls and Automation Engineer
Location: Johns Creek, GA
Experience with the following technologies: Beckhoff Twincat; Siemens Step 7 (S7), TwinSafe, relays, hardwired circuits, TIA Portal, and WinCC; Programming with Visual Studio, Visual Basic .NET (VB NET), or C Sharp (C#); Databases
- Identify, design and implement improvements to machines and processes related to the overall contact lens production process.
- Responsible for development of PLC, HMI, Vision Inspection, Laser Marking, and other software for contact lens production equipment – specifically to facilitate process improvements and changes
- Daily troubleshooting and correction of issues related to the support of 24/7 contact lens production process. Includes global support. Provide expert level support and advice to the organization on key processes, as well as global support when requested.
- Planning and coordination of capital automation projects in conjunction with project engineers.
- Participation on capital projects including management of associated internal/external resources and validations.
- Maintenance of software backup libraries and control of computer equipment. Familiar with Siemens S7 and Twincat PLC software.
- Ability to read complex machine code and make changes for process improvement optimizations.
- Follow protocols and continuous improvement support for production initiatives and prepare documentation related to procedures, training, work instructions, validations, DOE, etc.
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +10 yrs; Assoc.+16yrs; M.S.+0 yrs)
- The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
- 2 Years of Relevant Experience
- Experience with the development and/or support and improvement of highly automated production equipment
- Ability to program and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) or Programmable Automation Controllers (PACs), as well as servo drives
- Project Management Experience
- Ability to create specifications and validation protocols for new or modified equipment
- Experience with the following technologies: Beckhoff Twincat; Siemens Step 7 (S7), TwinSafe, relays, hardwired circuits, TIA Portal, and WinCC; Programming with Visual Studio, Visual Basic .NET (VB NET), or C Sharp (C#); Databases
- Experience with data analytics using tools such as Tableau, Minitab, SEEQ, etc
- Ability to read electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical drawings
- Working knowledge of various industrial equipment such as robots, servo drives, instrumentation devices, pneumatic cylinders, valves, etc.
- Experience working in fast paced production environment. Preferably an FDA regulated environment.
