Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire

Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid – 3 days onsite/week)

Job Summary:

CenterPoint Energy is seeking an experienced SAP Technical Developer to join our team on a contract-to-hire basis. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in SAP ABAP development within the PM, SM, and PS modules, along with a solid understanding of IDocs and S/4HANA. You will be working closely with functional and technical teams to design, develop, and maintain SAP applications that align with business objectives. This is a hybrid position based in Houston, TX, with the expectation of working onsite 3 days per week.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and enhance RICEFW objects (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, Workflows) in the SAP PM, SM, and PS modules.

 

Analyze business requirements and design scalable, efficient ABAP solutions.

 

Collaborate with functional consultants and business users to deliver technical specifications and solution designs.

 

Implement custom developments including user exits, BADIs, BAPIs, and enhancements.

 

Work with IDocs, RFCs, BAPIs, and other integration mechanisms for external interfaces.

 

Conduct thorough debugging, troubleshooting, unit and integration testing, and performance tuning.

 

Ensure compliance with SAP best practices and internal development standards.

 

Stay abreast of emerging SAP technologies, including tools and techniques relevant to S/4HANA.

 

Provide ongoing production support, resolve incidents, and participate in on-call rotation.

 

Participate in blueprinting sessions, project design workshops, and technical reviews.

 

Support Disaster Recovery (DR) and Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) activities as required.

 

Mentor junior developers and contribute to knowledge sharing across technical teams.

 

Required Qualifications:

Minimum 10+ years of SAP development experience, including strong experience in SAP PM, SM, and PS modules.

 

Proven experience working on SAP S/4HANA projects or live environments.

 

Strong knowledge of ABAP development including classical and object-oriented ABAP, ALV, Smart Forms, and SAP Scripts.

 

Expertise with IDocs, RFCs, BAPIs, Enhancements/User Exits, and Web Services.

 

Experience integrating SAP with external web and third-party applications.

 

Strong problem-solving and debugging skills using SAP tools (e.g., ST22, SM37, SE80, SE38).

 

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills.

 

Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team and meet project deadlines.

 

Nice to Have:

Prior experience with SAP Fiori/UI5 or SAP BTP-based developments.

 

Familiarity with SAP Solution Manager and Transport Management System (TMS).

 

Experience with Agile or Hybrid SDLC methodologies.
