Nebraska Department of Transportation / Business Technology Support Division is seeking dedicated Application Developer to join our team of performance driven professionals in helping to build the best of applications in support of NDOT’s business units. NDOT utilizes Agile development methodology.
Requirements: * Qualified applicants will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or hold a Technical Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent combination of education and minimum 5+ years development experience). * Explore and gain a thorough understanding of the business. * Troubleshoot problems and provide support on existing products and services. * Work as part of a software development team in the implementation of projects. * Perform daily tasks of analysis, programming and testing as needed. * Assist with; capturing business requirements, design, system architecture and development. * Maintain legacy applications (minor new development) in Micro Focus Cobol, Cobol and CICS that interact with the Department’s Information Systems. * Must have most recent experience within the last year coding programs in COBOL. * Experience with SQL utilizing DB2 accessing by programs, writing queries in QMF and creating tables is required. * Experience with JCL and job scheduling is required. * Experience in software development utilizing Agile with SCRUM is desired but not required. * Perform front-end, middle-tier and back-end development. * Skilled in troubleshooting and weighing relative costs and benefits of potential actions. * Extremely detailed oriented and able to follow Department standards, methodologies, principles and processes. * Strong verbal and written communication skills. * Candidate is offered hybrid work schedule with 2 days on-site at Department of Transportation, Lincoln, NE.
