I have placed 7 resources with this Client & their openings come with strictly budgeted rates.

I am in the process of getting my hands on the specific job description for this particular position 

Manager's specific mainframe stack might be a little different than this team’s, but the ask will be similar. 

The project will be a legacy re-write to a distributed cloud-based system. 

The entire “Cloud9 Project” effort at Client right now is focused around getting them more into the cloud and out of all the server farms, datacenters, and mainframes.

It could be C, C++, COBOL, JCL, Assembler, or all of the above.  

We really just need to find a good mainframe developer who has done a similar rewrite / lift and shift, and they’ll be a good fit, regardless of which specific language they specialize in. 

Mainframe Engineer

• 12+ Month contract (This project is slated for 2.5 years)
• 100% Remote, PST or CST preferred
• Rate is $50.00-$55.00MAX/hour – I have placed 7 resources with this Client & their openings come with strictly budgeted rates

Position is responsible for maintaining application software based on new requirements. 

• Actively participate in modernization of legacy application in moving application from Mainframe to distributed systems Develop subject matter expertise in product by providing analysis/design, code, testing and documentation Work with Cross-Functional teams to program, validate and co-ordinate software releases
• Provide production application support in a 24×7 environment. 
• Provide technical direction assistance to development and testing staff.
• Participate in or conduct code reviews and provide program improvement recommendations. 

 
In addition to all the above, the Mainframe Software Developer will: 

• Drive architecture decisions in collaboration with software architects, security team, and hardware teams
• Provide analysis and coding for complex software assignments.
• Possess proficient problem solving and diagnostic abilities providing support on production issues.
• Work with System Engineers and Internal Partners on requirements. Collaborate design review with cross functional groups; develop schedules, specifications, detail designs, and system procedures to enable on time delivery of defect free software systems. 
• Provide resource recommendations for timely completion of projects.
• Train or mentor other team members by providing technical working knowledge on assignments Interface with both internal as well as external customers. 

 
Qualifications: 

• Development of C and Embedded SQL in Linux Env, with MySQL /DB2
• Any application development experience in Python, Java, Scala. C++ is a plus.
• Strong experience with Microservices, AWS cloud services like Fargate, EC2, NLB’s, VPC, Route 53, S3, Lambda, Glue. 
• Ability to provide solutions to a wide range of technical problems and challenges Demonstrate knowledge of software development methodologies. 
• Experience with Scrum and other Agile processes required.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively in a team environment Proven track record of exceptional technical, communication, and project leadership skills.
