JOB DESCRIPTION

This is a remote position, and the person is expected to work up to 10 hours per week with no set schedule.

Position: Microsoft 365 Architect

Location:  Maryland State Department of Education, Nancy S. Grasmick Building, 200 W. Baltimore Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21201.

Contract Duration: February 25th, 2025 to February 24th, 2026.

Mandatory Requirements

1. Essential Requirements

• Availability to work for up to 10 hours per weekwith no set schedule.

1. Education and/or Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 10years of experience with at least 5 years focused in O365 and related tech at a senior level.
• Demonstrated expertise in:

1. M365 at an Enterprise Level
2. Creating and maintaining SharePoint Sites
3. Modern authentication techniques.
4. Automation solutions such as Power Apps and Power Automate

• Experience in:

1. Tenant Governance
2. CJIS, HIPAA, and/or other protected data standards

• Ability to report on overall state and prioritize actions to bring MSDE environments in line with agency needs.
• General knowledge of digital accessibility standards.

Responsibilities and Tasks

Main responsibilities:

• Assess the state of O365 and Microsoft cloud technologies at MSDE
  • Recommend the best configuration and practices for M365 to the MSDE CIO and Office of Information Technology.
  • Work with Microsoft resources to perform standard assessments
  • Work with MSDE OIT key stakeholders to bring tenants into a well-managed and compliant state
  • Develop standards for use of Office 365 tools and environments
  • Work closely with the Director of Infrastructure in developing architectural documentation.
  • Provide education and information to IT Partners in their use of this platform and solutioning for clients.
  • Projects may include setting up Entra ID Connect and Conditional Access, creating automated reports, working with SharePoint Hub and Team Sites, etc.
