Job Description:
Scala Skill sets:
- Proficiency in Scala programming language.
- Knowledge of other programming languages like Python.
- Basic knowledge of Spark, Hadoop and MapReduce.
- Write Scala code for enhancing existing programs or developing new programs.
- Good understanding of JDBC/ODBC drivers to connect to different datasources.
- Very good Linux skills.
- Experience in Spark performance testing and fine tuning.
- Experience in Spark log management.
- Experience in error controls within Spark.
- Proficiency to use PySpark and Scala within Hadoop/Cloudera platform.
- Ability to create custom jar/use system jar for Scala.
- A very good knowledge of Hadoop/Cloudera ECO system.
Other common skill sets required for a Scala developer:
- Write detailed technical specifications for subsystems. Identify integration points.
- Perform unit testing and debugging. Proficiency using debugging tools.
- Proficiency using versioning tools.
- Experience with Agile methodology.
- Review code developed by other IT Developers and work with Business Analysts, Systems Analysts, Project Managers.
- In-depth understanding of the systems development life cycle.
- Must demonstrate initiative and effective independent decision-making skills.
- Proficiency using standard desktop applications such as MS Suite and flowcharting tools such as Visio or draw.io.
